I never admonish myself for staying too long before participating to this thread.
Contrariwise, I sometimes judder at the thought that jettisoning any of the words that Algot posts for us so regularly, ignoring the pantology he offers us with quasi-surreal abnegation, could only be an the action of a thrawn muppet.

Such a self-contradiction certainly does not constitute an apophasis. Or does it ?

Yes, that reprobate is "The Hamburgler", a McDonalds advertising character from the time when it was legal in the US to do ads for fast food directed at children. That time has long passed, but some of us remember him.

characteristic

adjective
revealing, distinguishing, or typical of an individual character

==========

A distinguishing characteristic of a dandelion is the tubular stalk of its flower head. Other similar-looking weed flowers are the common hawkweeds whose flower stalks are not hollow.

Image

[It also needs to be acknowledged that a dandelion does not come to be seen as "distinguished" like a gentleman. It remains a weed most people wish to entirely remove from their property.]

[A further note is that "character" is regarded as too common a word for which to search in our forum software. I wonder if the software developers failed to realize that we who use it are often very strange characters.]

I am not going to say that characteristic habitude of mine is to try and collaborate to this thread, jettisoning as few WOTD as at all feasible, to avoid being a thrawn muppet, a reprobate. Indeed, this would be one more apophasis.

Maybe I should send myself a questionnaire : How many WOTD did I miss ?

I have this heartfelt belief, a firm conviction really, that a billet-doux never gets written on a slip of toilet paper.
