Apparently July is a favorite month for uprisings, revolutions, battles, foundings, declarations of independence and other alleged love parades.Algot Runeman wrote:... [USA] Independence Day ...
Off the top of my head I could already name 4 national holidays in July (below marked with *). But the Wikipedia reveals a lot more of them.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ho ... by_country
- Canada Day
- CPC Founding Day, People's Republic of China
- Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day
- British Virgin Islands Territory Day
* - USA Independence Day
- Lithuania Mindaugas' Coronation Day - The Day of State
- Anniversary of the Argentine Declaration of Independence
- The Bahamas Independence Day
* - Belgium's Flemish Community Holiday that commemorates the bloody Battle of the Golden Spurs in 1302 to oust the French overlords, which was also the first attempt towards Flemish sovereignty, finally achieved in 1970 (rather late but not for lack of trying)
* - France National Day (= Bastille Day), commonly named "le 14 Juillet"
- Australian National Day
- Uruguay Constitution Day
- Colombia Independence Day
* - Belgium National holiday (21 July 1831, Leopold I proclaims his oath to uphold the Belgian Constitution)
- Egypt Revolution Day
& 29 - Peru Independence Day (do they need an extra day to recover from a hangover?)
Anyone know any more?
