Welcome Namgis ! :)

BTW, we're in the process of putting together a new front page portal (to replace the one rendered obsolete by our recent migration to phpBB 3.0). If you're interested in helping, please feel warmly encouraged to PM either Kvetch or Gollum.

Ditto invitation to anyone else reading this with site devopment, php and/or cms experience.

Welcome to the forum Namgis. I agree, Vancouver is beautiful. I was there a couple of years ago and would love to go back.

Welcome Namgis
Wow, over the last two months I've read five books from the first three authors, didn't like the Vampire one but the Clives were very interesting.

My last couch was slain by an exploding 6.5 gal carboy of fermenting belgian ale (which also took out my entire living room).

Im Rachel, i live in the west midlands in the UK....28, and an avid reader (not surprising being on this website). Work in admin but in my spare time aside from reading, i own a horse, and am big into the craft scene including scrapbooking, jewellery making, card making, dabble in quilting etc.. i think you get the idea.
In terms of reading i currently get through at least one book a week, but this is based on what amount of time i have really.
surprising even with the amount i have read havent really thought about any of the below questions much...

1. Favorite Genre
havent a specific genre, and in fact like to intersperse my reading so as not to read the same types of books all the time. they tend to be romantic comedies, thrillers and actions.. if i really had to chose one it would be romantic comedies i think
2. Favorite Author
Katie Fjord
3. Favorite Author that's not in Favorite Genre
Wilbur Smith
4. How/Why you picked your Member-Name
Raggle, a nickname someone used to call me and it stuck for using as user names
5. How you found IBDoF
through iblist.com
6. Name one book you would never recommend to a friend
Stephen Booth's 'Black Dog'- cant often not finish a book, but this was one of them....not sure why..
7. Top 5 books/series
Phillip Pullmans 'the Dark Materials' series
Rowlings 'harrp potter' series
Tim La Hayes 'Left behind' series
J.R.Ward 'Black dagger brotherhood' series
The hot Zone Richard Preston

Think thats about it..

Hello and welcome to all from the resident Rodent.

I'm not as much new as returning. I imagine a lot of people have joined since I stopped frequenting the site and some people I knew may have left. I seem to have a habit of having rather long trips away from IBDoF, but I can't seem to leave forever.

So...

1. Favorite Genre - I think it's a tie between sci-fi and fantasy, although I haven't read much in the genre in a long while. Mostly what I look for in a book is good writing and a good story.
2. Favorite Author - I'm no good at picking one... so withing my favorite genres I'd say Warren Ellis, Dan Simmons, Orson Scott Card, and Larry Niven
3. Favorite Author that's not in Favorite Genre - John Irving, David Sedaris
4. How/Why you picked your Member-Name - I used this as a username frequently when I was in highschool and my reason for choosing it was forgotten long ago.
5. How you found IBDoF - I believe it was a search on Google... but again, long time ago.
6. Name one book you would never recommend to a friend -The stand by Stephen King... probably the worst book I read from cover to cover.
7. Top 5 books/series - Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy (series), trans metropolitan (graphic novel series), Snow Crash, American Gods and Hyperion (Haven't read the entire series yet... so yeah)

Welcome back!

But a little word to the wise: If you plan to catch up, then don't read more than 4 posts of mine each day.
Otherwise you might get scared off again ...
